It goes missing more often than it breaks. The cover comes off during electrical work — and these cars have had a lot of electrical work — then gets left on a bench and never goes back. What follows is an exposed fuse and relay block collecting dust and moisture in an engine bay, which is how intermittent electrical faults begin on cars that are otherwise famously durable.
Volvo no longer supplies it, and a used one is only available from a car being broken.
Fitment: Volvo 140, 164, 240 and 260, 1970s–1980s. The block itself changed across that span. Count the fuse positions and measure the block before ordering, since these cars frequently carry parts from each other.
