The interior door lock pin — the small knob on top of the door card that rises and falls with the central locking.
They unscrew from a threaded rod, and over years of use the plastic thread strips. The pin comes off in your hand, usually while you are trying to pull it up manually because the central locking has decided not to cooperate. After that the rod is a bare metal stem sticking out of the trim.
Replacements are difficult to source individually because they are considered part of the locking mechanism rather than trim.
Fitment: a range of BMW models. Thread pitch and pin length vary between generations, so measure the exposed rod and the thread, or send a photo alongside the model and year.
