The NA never had a proper cupholder. Mazda fitted a shallow tray behind the seats and considered the matter closed, which was defensible in 1990 and considerably less so on a long drive with a coffee.

So the community built its own, repeatedly. There are several competing designs in circulation and they have collectively accumulated thousands of endorsements — and, notably, people sell them and other people buy them. The willingness to pay for this one is not theoretical.

Because there is no original to reproduce, this is a design question rather than a reproduction question: where it mounts, whether it interferes with the handbrake, and whether it can be removed without trace.

Fitment: NA, 1990–1997. Tell us whether you want the console-mount or the seat-back tray arrangement, and whether your car has the factory armrest — that changes the available space considerably.
