The drive gear inside the HVAC blend-door actuator on the S15.
This is one of the few functional repairs in the S-chassis range rather than a trim piece. When the gear strips, the blend door stops moving and the car settles on one temperature permanently — usually whichever it happened to be on when the teeth went. In a car with no manual override for the flap, that is the end of climate control.
The S15 was never sold in most markets, which makes dealer support somewhere between poor and nonexistent depending on where you are. Owners import parts or repair what they have.
