The panoramic sunroof slider — the “shoe” that carries the glass panel along its rail.
These shatter rather than wear. The shoe is a small moulded block under constant compressive load, and once one fails the panel jams skewed in the frame, often part-open. On a panoramic roof that means a large aperture you cannot close, and the car cannot be left outside.
Mercedes catalogues the shoe as part of the sunroof frame assembly. Not the mechanism, the frame — which is among the more expensive things you can be quoted for a broken piece of plastic smaller than a matchbook.
Fitment: C-Class W204 and W205, and GLA, 2007–2015. Shoes differ between front and rear rails and between the two C-Class generations. Tell us the model, year and which corner has failed; if the panel is currently jammed, say so.
