The switch plate that surrounds the power window controls on the driver’s door of the 2000–2006 Suburban. It cracks around the switch apertures, then the whole panel starts to lift and rattle against the door card.
Two things kill it. Sunlight through the door glass hits this panel directly for years, which makes the plastic brittle, and the switches themselves get pressed thousands of times, flexing a bezel that has already lost its resilience. Once the first aperture splits, the rest follow quickly.
GM built an enormous number of these trucks and a great many are still working vehicles, but interior trim for the GMT800 generation has thinned out badly in the twenty years since.
Fitment: Suburban 2000–2006. The same basic panel appears across the GMT800 family — Tahoe, Yukon, Silverado and Sierra of the period — but switch cutout counts differ by trim and door. Check yours against the photos, particularly the number of window switches.
