The W126 has aged into an odd position. It was built to a standard that keeps the cars structurally sound long past the point where the small interior fittings gave up, so you find otherwise excellent examples let down by switch surrounds, vent trim and console pieces that have shrunk, warped or cracked.
Mercedes supported these cars for a long time, which delayed the problem rather than solving it. What has run out now is genuinely run out.
