The regulator slider clip for the E90 and E91, and for the E46 and E53 X5 which share the failure.
BMW is not alone in this — the same design decision appears in the Volkswagen listing elsewhere here — but the E-chassis version has its own character. The clip cracks progressively rather than snapping, so the window develops a slight tilt and starts binding in the channel before it eventually lets go entirely. Owners often chase a motor fault or a dry channel first.
Once it drops, the glass is loose inside the door skin and the car cannot be secured until it is out.
Fitment: E90 and E91 3-series, E46, and E53 X5, spanning 1998–2011. Front and rear doors differ, and the X5 uses a heavier clip than the saloons. Give us chassis, year and door.
