Ford F-150 Interior Door Handle

The interior door handle for the F-150, and one of the best-known plastic failures on any American truck.

The handle is a lever that pivots against a moulded plastic post, and the post shears. Once it goes, the handle waggles uselessly and you open the door from outside or by reaching through the window. On a truck used for work this happens on the driver’s side first and often within the first decade.

Reinforced replacements exist and sell well precisely because the original geometry is the problem — a straight reproduction in plastic reproduces the failure along with the shape. Any version worth fitting needs to address the pivot.

Fitment: F-150, 1999–2008, with the same handle continuing in some configurations to 2015. Specify driver or passenger side, front or rear door, and the year. Tell us if you want the reinforced version.
