Lexus no longer supplies the knob. What they supply is the register — the full vent assembly — at somewhere north of a hundred dollars for a control the size of a thumbnail. The economics of that are difficult to explain to anyone who has just watched a small plastic slider come off in their hand.
It is worth noting where this sits in the catalogue. The SC300 parts we started with are the same story a decade earlier: Lexus interiors are built well enough to outlive the availability of their own small components, so the failures that do happen tend to happen in cars still worth keeping.
Fitment: RX330, RX350 and RX400h, 2004–2009. Centre and outboard vents use different sliders. Tell us the position and send a photo if you can — the RX400h has some detail differences from the conventional cars.
