An adapter retainer that lets the STI six-speed shift boot fit a five-speed WRX. The two gearboxes use different boot mounting geometry, so the STI boot — which many WRX owners prefer — will not simply drop into the standard car.
This is a fitment part rather than a repair part. Nothing has broken; the retainer exists to bridge two Subaru assemblies that were never intended to meet.
Fitment: GD-chassis WRX and STI, 2004–2007. Confirm your gearbox rather than your badge — swapped cars are common in this chassis and the retainer needs to match the transmission tunnel opening you actually have, not the model on the boot lid.
