If you own an eighth-generation Civic, you already know about this one. The armrest latch snaps — not might, does — and it is common enough that owner forums have dedicated threads running for years with the same photograph posted over and over.
Honda’s answer is the complete console lid assembly. A hinged plastic lid, upholstered, priced accordingly, because the small sprung catch inside it is not offered separately. You are replacing a component the size of a coin by buying the thing it sits in.
The failure is mechanical rather than cosmetic. The latch tongue takes the full load every time the armrest is closed, and after a decade of that the plastic fatigues at the same stress point every time. Which is why every broken one looks identical.
Fitment: Civic 2006–2011. The console design changed with the ninth generation, so this will not carry over to 2012 onward. If your car is a 2011 built late in the year, check the latch shape against the photos first.
